Okay, I did not write this, I got it off a bulletin from a 'myspace' friend. It was just too funny not to share. This is in no way to offend anyone, just classic. I have MANY similar stories from a Jack in the box drive through and Trent ordering at BBQ place in Las Colinas close to where we to live! The difference is the one at the end of this story not a change matter.
Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2... and I was digging for my change. I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort.... and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s.

No I am not racist toward hispanic people. I do believe however when you work in an area that the majority of the population speak english, it might be a good idea to learn it yourself. I always wonder how they don't get screwed on stuff themselves!

I couldn't agree with you more! It's not offensive, it's the truth! It's like we've become a culture that is afraid to say that because of the backlash of being called a racist. But this is America!!!!

I taught 2nd grade Bilingual and none of the kids knew English until I pulled out the candy. I'm just saying.
I need to go back & re-read this whole post as I only skimmed it. I have to say that I laughed out loud though!
We used to live in Texas: Abilene, Lubbock & Uvalde (70 miles from Mexico). I 100% agree with you that if someone (from anywhere) is going to LIVE in America they should learn to speak English. It would be expected of us if we moved out of the country, right?
That is really funny...and true. We have had so many instances with cashiers who obviously did not excel past third grade math, and it is very sad!
