I was not an early AI fan. I always liked the beginning when they are searching cities and then the finals between the top ten. Last year was the first time I watch an entire season. I really don't do a lot of television in general and always heckled reality television. Ironically my favorite show this past year (other than Parenthood of course) was The Sing Off!! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE SHOW! SOOO many talented people!! Anyways....
Me and the kids were headed to my oldest son's piano lessons after school today. I must say he is quite a musical little dude and has a lot more talent than me for sure! Well I guess most people are. He announced that when he turns 18 he will be heading to LA to where he plans to become famous. I said really, I thought it was New York?? Background: He has been a HUGE spiderman fan almost his whole 8 years, and this is how he knows about NYC and wants to be a citizen :) He informed me that yes he still plan on New York but that will be after he makes it big in Hollywood because that is his life long dream. I said simply, Okay buddy! I asked him what is so great about being famous? He said, because you get to be rich! I told him you can work hard and earn a lot of money without being famous and he re-itterated that its his dream. I said again, okay go for it. Inside, I was a little sad. I mean I want him to have dreams and try to reach them but I am sad that its not just playing great or singing great. Its that being famous is included in that. Something about that just does not sit right with me.
On a completely different subject I wanted to share with other people, assuming that maybe somebody out there besides my dad reads this and just never ever EVER leaves a comment, that I have found something that makes my children really think about how they are acting when they go into a full on ridiculous WHINE....Are you ready... wait for it... wait for it... TAKE THEIR PICTURE OR VIDEO them in the act. My daughter gets VERY embarassed when she sees herself and I have to say its been the more effective of the tactics I've used this year. I also bring my baby's toys out and place in front of my 6 and 8 year old when they are acting like the toddler should but doesn't :)

HOLIDAY weekend
My plan is just to keep it open as long as I can! Ha! We'll see how that goes! My family had a nice long weekend together. Dad surprised me with not only coming home early Friday, but also setting up a sitter and taking me on a much needed date! We went to Ruby Tequila's for appetizers and drinks and then across the street to the theater to see Sherlock Holmes. It was a great evening and we were home by 10!!
Saturday he let me sleep and got up with the kids until he had to get ready for a golf tournament. Sadly, he had to leave that early b/c of his back :(
Ty had his second basketball game ever and did very well, even made a basket! We are playing with Upward, a Christ-centered league to which I have been VERY impressed with! Meme and G came to the game which made him so excited! They were also a huge help with his crazy little brother!
We had a nice dinner together at home and then watched Alice and Wonderland together! We enjoyed a great service and class Sunday and then breakfast with Meme and G. It was a blustery windy day so we stayed in our jammies ALL day. Today is a holiday but none of the kids seem to understand that means you don't have to get up early! Every other day they DON'T want to get up! Figures.
The plan for today is the movies with Meme and G and Levi and I will probably make a run to the store. LOVE weekends like this! Other than the fact that my man is hurting. Surgery is looking more and more inevitable, although he is VERY resistant to it.

I always LOVE Christmas with T's family. The first time I sat in shock. I am an only child with only two cousins who have always lived FAR away, and the noise and chaos was new to me! I absolutely love it. I love seeing all the cousins play and eat with each other and one of my most favorite things is G's fire. Their new house has one you can literally almost get in, and I about did! Meme always makes EVERYTHING and from scratch. WOW. That is just the only description that is fitting, WOW!

Breakfast and the Ft.Worth Zoo
We went to breakfast at a local place and got to see Santa, well sort of!
Ft.Worth Zoo!!! Thursday before Christmas, everyone must have still been shopping= YEA FOR US!! No crowds, up front parking and in the mid 50's, a beautiful precious memory!
First Day in Ft.Worth, the week before Christmas

The first trip by myself with three children and a dog from Lubbock to Dallas.............well it was pretty smooth! We made two stops going which is not real bad! We did not get off until about 12:30 and made it by 6:30. We got our stuff out and then headed across the street to the church I grew up in. They were having a sort of fesitval for Christmas. It has been going on for many years but this was the first time we were able to go and it will now be a tradition!!! Complete with pony rides, bounce houses, petting zoo, LIVE Nativity, blacksmith workshop, campfire and live country praise music as well as a hayride down our (my parent's) street to look at Christmas lights! First off we ran into my bestie and her family! Cannot believe we did not discuss these plans but were SO blessed to spend this time together! The kids had a BLAST! Holly and her family were kind enough to take my kids on the hayride since we would have had to wait quite a while for the rest of us to fit and since it was around 9 by this time, Levi would not have made it! His favorite was the animals, Ty's was the Blacksmith where Pop got him a melted nail/knife, and Livi's was the s'mores at the camp fire! I had the pleasure of seeing so many people that I love and had not seen in so long. What a blessing it was to attend!

Christmas Home Tour

The Entry Hall Tree. Our basket below holds all the cards we recieve throughout the season!

This is the Nativity scene my mother gave me years ago, possisbly before I was married...

The most recent gift from my parents just past the entry is our new 9ft tree!!! A slim line that works so much better here. I have included some photos of some of my favorite ornaments!
The view from the breakfast area into the living room..
The lower shelf of my baker's rack in my breakfast area.. includes a photo of Olivia from her adventure on the Polar Express two years ago and the gingerbread house she made in kindergarten this year.

Coffee Bar with all the fixings and breakfast table with a new runner Ty made in school this year.

ANOTHER gift from my mother, the trifle. Been doing this since college :)
